How to use the Dashboard Newbies' Page

Choose the icon that seems to offer a solution to a problem that you want to solve.

Examples:

• How does that sound? ==> choose the Text-to-Speech link 'How does that sound?'
• How do you say 'Welcome' ==> Choose the nciku icon: great for learning to use words in the right context
• How do those tones 'work'? ==> Click one of the '.... tones.....' icons
• I have problems with the pronounciation of pinyin ==> click (for example) the 'Difficult sounds' icon
• Is the translation of a word I found the correct one in my particular context? ==> use nciku dictionary icon
• Decide for yourself which icon offers the best solution for your circunstance
• Learning the basics of Chinese on-line.
  • Choose one of the icons to be your 'favourite':
    • Only interested in the very basics of Chinese? ==> Choose the orange 'BBC CHINESE The Basics' icon
    • You want to improve your comprehension skills? ==> Choose the Oxford Video icon in combination with a 'Pinyinize' link or MDBG

Which of the icons leads to the best results, depends highly on what you want (only a few 'ice-breakers' or learn to speak and understand) and on your favourite learning style (analytical, communicative, quick results, .....)
